The Lore of Elden Ring is Cursed - Elden Ring Lore
By: VaatiVidya
VaatVidya takes you on a journey of Elden Ring lore leading up to the DLC, coming in June 2024.
The DLC entrance for Elden Ring is located in Mohgwyn Palace before Miquella's withered arm. This location prompts exploration into Miquella's death at the hands of Mohg. Mohg, born from the Union between Queen Marika and Lord Godfrey, is one of the oldest demigods alongside siblings Morgott and Godwyn. Mohg and Morgott were twins, born as Omen, while Godwyn was considered the golden child.
Omen, marked by grotesque horns, are believed to be born of chance from the primordial crucible, where various life forms blended before the Erdtree's existence. These aspects, including horns, were once considered divine but later seen as chaotic.
The Crucible Knights, ancient warriors serving Godfrey, wielded aspects of the crucible but were abandoned by Marika's Golden Order, facing scorn for their resemblance to chaos. The Misbegotten, like the Omen, bore aspects of the crucible and were treated as impure. Omen killers, authorized butchers, hunted and mutilated Omen, particularly targeting their horns. Omen children, such as Mohg and Morgott, born of royalty, had their horns excised or hidden. Mohg, half-blind due to a horn growing into his eye, represents a trend of blindness in Elden Ring, where sightless characters often possess unique insights.
